War Crimes was written under lock down in a Brixton studio after the 7/7 bombings. The anxiety and paranoia was palpable: all I could do was work on the track. The tiny studio I worked at did garage rap straight from the streets. Maybe that’s where the groove came from, I’m not sure. Political immunity & secrecy is doctrine.
