The PRIMITIVES Group was the first Czech psychedelic music group founded in 1965. It was named The Primitives by Josef Bouček. The founding members were Ivan Hajniš, František Mašek, Zdeněk Burda, Jaroslav Křtěn and Karel Černý. The new name The Primitives Group was altered by their new manager Eugene Fiala. The band found their home stage in the F Club in Smíchov. The band belonged to one of the first ones using the fire and smoke effects. The band closely cooperated with a Czech poet Martin Magor Jirous, his wife Věra, and with a photographer Jan Ságl and his wife Zora, a progressive painter. Along with a group of artists the band members used special costumes and make-up originating in the Kabala star signs. The Fish Fest and Bird Fest were two absolutely unique cult events taking place in the F Club. The band performed at the First Czechoslovak Beat Festival in 1967 and 1968. The band ceased to exist after their singer Ivan Hajniš had emigrated to Sweden. The band also played covers by their contemporary famous band such as The Doors, Fugs, Pretty Things, Jimi Hendrix, Animals and Mothers of Invention. The band was later transformed into The Plastic People of the Universe in the Seventies.
The band got back together in 2016 and they set out on tour. Since then, the band have performed ove twenty successful concerts throughout the whole country with a highly positive critical acclaim. They continue to tour in 2017 and you are very welcome to see their show !
